EYFS and KS1working together
At Educare, our early years and KS1 (Kindergarten, Butterflies and Dolphins) children are taught within the same classroom. We have found that there are huge benefits to having a mixed aged classroom and this helps mitigate the struggles some children have in a typical setting such as feeling left behind if they struggle with a concept or if they are bored of the repetition of something they have already mastered.

In the moment planning and continuous provision approach
At Educare, our in the moment planning and continuous provision approach takes the child’s lead and allows them constant opportunities to explore, develop, and practice effective learning characteristics. Our children feel respected and valued when their ideas are listened to and acted upon and allows them to take ownership of their play and learning experiences. The role of the adult in this approach is to identify, respond, and react by providing opportunities, resources, and experiences based on the children’s expressed interests.
Our Classroom
Our classroom is set up with different areas of learning. Together with small group focus sessions, children are able to access these areas of learning through ‘busy time’. We carefully plan resources to enhance these areas which are available to the children every day and all year round. Our areas of provision are carefully planned to meet the age and stage of the children in the class.

Forest School
Forest School is a weekly half-day session out in the woods, in all weathers and in all seasons, with a child-led learning process that encourages play, exploration and supported risk taking.
It helps participants become healthy, resilient, creative and independent learners, as well as developing key skills for life - socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually.
